San Jose Dentist Focuses On Proper Oral Hygiene

The American Dental Association offers the following guidelines for proper oral hygiene:

  • Brush two times a day
  • Floss once a day
  • Rinse your mouth with water after meals
  • Visit your dentist every six months for a thorough cleaning and check up

I’m Dr. Randy LaFrom. As a dentist in San Jose, I advise my patients about proper oral hygiene tools to prevent problems before they start. Toothbrush: I advise my patients to use a soft-bristled brush that can easily maneuver between the teeth and gums. In regards to electric toothbrushes, I recommend SONICARE and TRIUMPH because they have timers, hold up well, easily move around teeth, and they are good for the gums. If cost is an issue, then I recommend Crest Spinbrush.

Toothpaste: There are over 75 different toothpastes on the market. For teeth sensitivity, bleeding, and plaque control, I encourage you to try ORAREX. If your concern pertains to cavity formation, or to level the pH in your mouth, I recommend ARM and HAMMER Baking Soda.

Fluoride: We recommend fluoride treatments at your semi-annual dental visit to strengthen tooth enamel against decay.

Dietary Supplements:  Proper eating habits can minimize dental problems. If you need extra vitamins and minerals, I recommend a broad spectrum multi-vitamin to strengthen gums and teeth, and to lower the risk of disease.

For a personal oral health evaluation and consultation, contact my San Jose dentist office at (408)996-8595 and schedule an appointment. I focus on healthy mouths for healthy living and residents of San Jose, Cupertino, and surrounding areas.
